Is wearing the Star of David [earrings, etc] considered disrespectful in any way if you aren't Jewish?

I've always been interested in the Holocaust & what the people had to experience [which is SICKENING]. The Star of David has always had my interest & I've considered getting a necklace with it but [as it may sound a bit like a stupid thought] I've always wondered if it would offend one who is in fact Jewish.

I'd assume you were Jewish, then be a little put off to find out your not. If there was time to explain then I'd accept your explaination that you feel a connection.

The only down side is that as a community you'd be representing us without knowing that much. If you feel you can do that respectfully, then I'd be okay with it.

Personally I don't wear any religious symbol jewelry in public view. I don't want to be wondering if someone was rude to me because they're having a bad day, or they're a bigot. There's too many little incidents that show up after someone finds out I'm Jewish. Other times people are more warm. But either way, you are opening yourself up to anti-semitism. If in your area you find it a problem, then tuck it in while in public.
